This highly detailed map at a 'Yard to the Mile' scale covers the area around Seven Dials, including Covent Garden and the east part of Soho. Note that Charing Cross Road had not yet cut through the area. Coverage stretches from Dean Street eastward to Great Wild Street, and from Oxford Street southward to Cranbourne Street. The many features include Soho Square, Pickle Manufactory, St Gile's church, St Mary's church Crown Street, St Anne's church Dean Street, St Giles & St George's Workhouse, Royal Italian Opera (today Covent Garden), Covent Garden Market, Long Acre, St Paul's church, Queen's Theatre, Lyceum Theatre, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Gaiety Theatre. On the reverse we include street directory entries for Drury Lane, Great St Andrew Street, St Giles High Street, Long Acre, New Compton Street, Old Compton Street and Soho Square in 1859.
