Lady Alice Kyteler is the wealthiest woman in Kilkenny, Ireland. Alice, after the mysterious deaths of her four husbands, was tried by Bishop Le Drede and convicted as a witch in 1324 and when she escaped to England, her maid Petronella was burned at the stake in her place – thus making her the first woman to be burned for witchcraft in Ireland. These are the historically accurate facts. The only historical record is the trial manuscript written by Bishop Le Drede. What no one knows is how these two met and what happened to bring them to their fateful end.
