Set in the early stages of the American Civil War. A charming Yankee soldier comes to Williamsburg and becomes the subject of young Eden Day's affection. Grandmother Day, who can remember the time when Cornwallis surrendered and the United States was founded, observes from a distance the love affair that plays out between her granddaughter and this new visitor.
