This book is the first guide to all trees, shrubs and flowering plants growing wild in the British Isles and in Europe from the Alps up to the Arctic, including Iceland. The book starts with 11 pages of thumbnail sketches for easily identifying flowers from the number of petals and other characteristics of their flowers. There are also further keys for identifying plants from their leaves and other characteristics. The keys then point to paintings each of which was done specially for this book, from fresh specimens, carefully and beautifully reproduced and printed in colour.
