This book was written to commemorate the centenary of the greatest ever Hastings chess tournament in 1895.
All 231 games have been extensively annotated by International Master Colin Crouch in the light of current theoretical knowledge.
There are also nine pages of photographs plus the story of the congress, competitor biographies, tournament cross-table and an historical perspective of the event.
The tournament was, at the time, one of the strongest ever held.
