This item is produced from folded paper stock, using a cutting-edge thermal encapsulation machine. If the product is inspected very closely, hairline creases may be visible along which the paper map was orignally folded before encapsulation, but, the actual plastic surface of the map is flat to touch (and to write on and wipe clean!) even where the original fold lines used to exist on the paper map within. The rollers used in the encapsulation process exert even pressure and tension on the map as the plastic coating is being applied, this helps to minimise the appearance of any original fold marks. Our flat plastic coated Ordnance Survey Explorer and Landranger maps are lithographically printed. When encapsulated they are vastly better quality than the bespoke flat digitally printed versions which are available; the ink used on those is not compatible with the thermal lamination process used to produce this product, the inks used on those tends to melt and smear when the hot plastic is applied. To put it simply, overall these are the best quality flat O.S. wall maps available. Please note that some of the maps in this range are double sided, (if this is the case then each side of the map can be viewed via the product images above) The double sided maps are reversible, so can be mounted on a wall displaying your chosen side.
