Dunfermline and District Tramways Company

Publication of this history represents the final stage of over fifteen years' research into the tramways and transport of the Fife and Forth Valley area. This fifth and final part of the series deals with the last tramway in the area - the last opened and the last closed. It fell to the bus monopoly just before the Second World War, but should have survived to provide much needed workers' transport then. Advances in track construction were not matched by a similar renewal of cars. The tramway story has produced a large amount of information and a considerable number of photographs relating to the rise of the motor bus industry in Fife. It is hoped to produce a companion series to that of the tramways.
