Showing Hitchin : in old photographs by Alan Fleck

This book examines the main elements in the town's 20th century history, and shows how the decline of trade in animals and grain, and the inhabitants' enduring need to shop and travel, have combined with landscape and climate to create the townscape we know today. The photographs, most of which have never been published before, have been chose from the immense archive of over 300.000 prints and negatives held by Hitchin museum.
