There are people all around the world who have been affected by the terrible accident of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 in March of 2019. In particular the loss of our dear friend and inspirational leader Sarah Auffret. Sarah was on her way to attend a UN Conference as an advocate for reducing plastic waste in our oceans as part of her role as the Environmental Agent of the Association of Artic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO). Sarah was a passionate environmentalist and a wonderful leader. The world is a poorer place without her friendly smile. Many of us around the globe are committed to carrying on her work as the best possible way to commemorate her and keep her memory alive. Around the world, on Sarah's birthday, the 16th of June, we will all go and find ourselves a place; quiet, remote, busy or still and we will take the time to clean up the area, rernoving litter and waste and restoring a natural balance.
